Smiles on the Horizon

When you have dental insurance, you have smiles on the horizon! The details of one Horizon Dental plan may differ from another, but they do have several characteristics in common.

Except for Horizon Individual Dental, your plan has a deductible. Think of it the same way you do your automobile deductible—there is a certain amount of money you must pay out-of-pocket before your dental insurance begins to cover any of Dr. Young’s services. And whether you’ve satisfied the deductible or not, there is a co-pay due at the time of your appointment.

You also have to pay a premium, usually on a monthly or annual basis for the privilege of having dental insurance. So what happens to these payments and your benefits when you don’t see the dentist? They just go away.

Dental insurance benefits expire at the close of a calendar year and do not roll over to the next year. In other words, you must use your benefits or lose them. Therefore, you do your smile and your wallet a favor when you schedule regular dental checkups and other covered services for you and your family on time.
